Vern is an enthusiastic coach for our team that loves helping people and teaching what he has learned to as many people as possible. He enjoys getting disappointed by the Vikings every Sunday during football season and hopes that one day, he might see his team in the Super Bowl. He is an avid gamer that loves a good adventure and hates online multiplayer games. He enjoys spending time with his fiancée Brita, his dog Blue, and family and friends in his free time. You can also catch him binge watching almost any TV show imaginable and catching every Marvel movie or show as it is released (he might have a little bit of FOMO). Vern has aspirations of becoming an automotive business coach for the industry so that he can start to fulfill his dream of helping to change the perception of the automotive industry.

Chris, a New England, ND native, is a father of 2 boys. Not only is he the Controller for Matt’s Automotive, he also owns a Local Wedding DJ and Entertainment business. During his free time he loves spending time with his wife Britny, playing Fortnite with his boys, or doing some crazy house renovation that he probably should just hire someone to complete.

Geoff is a proud graduate of the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities with a bachelor’s degree in operations management. Geoff’s goal is to help redefine the automotive repair industry standards through unwavering dedication to a new level of service excellence, his ultimate aspiration is for all whom enter our doors as a guest leave as a cherished friend. Geoff is committed to forging and nurturing long-lasting connections and creating a warm, welcoming environment that extends beyond mere financial transaction or vehicle maintenance or repair.

Dedication to service for Geoff extends beyond the boundaries of the automotive industry. As a proud member of the volunteer fire department in his hometown, He has had the privilege of serving his community as he continues to find ways to give back. This experience has profoundly shaped his perspective of service, reinforcing his belief that going above and beyond makes a positive, meaningful, and long-lasting impact on others. Drawing inspiration from the compassionate approach he and his fellow firefighters take with their patients, he finds that connection at Matt’s Automotive where he strives to ensure our guests needs are met with the upmost care, attention, and unwavering dedication.

Beyond Geoff’s professional life, you can often find him on a golf course or on a lake somewhere. Geoff is blessed with a loving and supportive wife, Susan, and their golden retriever, Clementine.

APPRENTICE TECHNICIAN

Raised in the Fargo/Moorhead area, he has a strong passion for working on cars and constantly seeks to acquire new techniques and skills for automotive craftsmanship. His ultimate aspiration is to build his dream car a skyline. On the weekends he enjoys watching football, enjoys it more when the Falcons aren’t losing.

SHOP FOREMAN

Mike has been in the automotive industry since January of 2005. Married for 4 years and proud father of 2. Native of Rugby ND. Lived in Fargo since Oct 2004. Passions are trap shooting, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. Dallas Cowboys Fan.

TECHNICIAN

Victor is a native of moorhead, who still lives there with is dog Buddy.Who enjoys spending time with and riding motorcycle during his off time. He was always tinkering with motors as a kid. He worked at a parts store in high school where his passion for help people with their cars grew. Then worked on custom cars and was a fleet mechanic. He loves the environment and opportunities at Matt’s Automotive

APPRENTICE TECHNICIAN

Hello, my name is Destiny Rock! I was born and raised in the Fargo-Moorhead area. I started working on vehicles in high school during automotive class.  I enjoy giving back to the community and my pets.  I enjoy making abstract art in my free time and baking.  My favorite holiday is Halloween because of the artistic talent I get to see during that time.  My dream car is a 2016 Dodge Challenger in sky blue.

LEAD TECHNICIAN

Hello, I’m David. I’ve been with Matt’s Automotive for 10 years now and I’m the lead technician for the company. I started working on cars when I was 14 as an apprentice at a small town shop. From there I decided that this is what I wanted to do and went to WyoTech in Laramie WY.  I graduated from WyoTech in 2012 with a 4.0 and started working at a local Firestone before moving to Fargo. Since then, I’ve become ASE Master and Advanced Specialist certified. I was voted top 10 technician in North America by MotorTrend in 2022. I enjoy fishing and boating with my family, and spending time building RC cars with my son.

TECHNICIAN

Brady just became the father to a baby boy. He enjoys going boating with his family and friends all summer long. In the winter time, Brady loves to go snowmobiling. In his free time, he likes rebuilding cars and helping his friends build their drift, drag, and autocross cars. Brady recently has found enjoyment in tuning vehicles. The transition to Matt’s Automotive Service Center has been an amazing experience and he can’t wait to grow in his employment.

TECHNICIAN

Wes has had a shorter career in the Automotive industry but has quickly rose to be one of the most productive team members in the Matt’s Automotive family. His eye for speed, accuracy and efficiency is second to none. He has a thirst for knowledge and taking care of people and their cars. When he’s not working you might find him enjoying time with his friends, fishing in a lake or river, pontooning, ice fishing or hunting. You could call him an outdoors guy.

APPRENTICE TECHNICIAN

Christian is an automotive apprentice technician that has really absorbed repairing vehicles about as good as anyone could ask for. He has made improvements to his craft every day and loves the environment Matt’s Automotive provides for learning. So much so that he has developed a hobby of fixing his own car in his free time. He loves spending time with his wife, fishing in the summer, hiking and taking road trips.

TECHNICIAN

Josh has over 25 years in the automotive repair industry ranging from fixing heavy equipment to diesels to small cars. He has been able to take one of the transitions that many do not consider easy from a diesel technician to an automotive technician with stride. He has three daughters and a fiancé at home that he loves spending time with. When he’s not working you might find him spending time with his daughters, glamping (he likes camping but only in his camper), or riding motorcycles.

SHOP FOREMAN

Married with 4 kids 15 Grand kids
I live with my wife, my daughter, her husband and 5 grand kids. When I come home from work they all greet me with hugs and love that truly makes my day.

I have been on a motorcycle since I was 9 years old. I have traveled around the world three times. I have ridden around the United States 3 times.I was labeled as the new easy rider by harley davidson members magazine.

I served in the United States Navy for 5 years and served on ship in the Mediterranean Sea for 4 years. I have worked on computers since 1977.
I was a 5 star chef for 17 years and from there I started working on cars so I could spend more time with my kids.

I worked with a lot of great people and they have taught me patience and don’t give up.

AUTOBODY TECHNICIAN

Preston considers himself to be a pretty boring person. He has spent the last 5 years mastering his skills in replacing windshields and performing ADAS calibrations. He has taken a new leap to learn more of the body repair industry. When he’s not working you might find him playing Grand Theft Auto (the video game, not real life). With GTA 6 coming out in 25 and asked if he was excited, he responded, “I’m going to be sick the week that game comes out.” He loves hunting pheasant, bass and ice fishing. He also enjoys fixing and riding snowmobiles.

TECHNICIAN

Sophie is a 2022 graduate of Fargo South High School, and became interested in becoming a mechanic after taking a couple years of Automotive classes in school. After working in Food Service for four years she decided to make the jump to the automotive industry in November of 2022. First starting at our North Moorhead location as a Tire & Lube Technician, she later transferred to our 13th Ave location as a General Service Technician and has been happily working there since. During her free time Sophie enjoys playing games online with her friends and creating digital art, as well as loving on her pet Rottweiler. Sophie is glad to have made the jump to Matt’s Automotive Service Center, as well as the practical experience she gains by working here.

 

SHOP FOREMAN
Austin is the shop foreman at the Collision Center. He was originally hired as an automotive technician and earned the title of foreman through hard work, dedication and growth within the Matt’s Automotive organization. He originally is from Edgely, ND and loves spending time with his family. He is an avid NY Giants fan and enjoys watching football in his free time. In addition to football, he enjoys spending time with his family which consists of his 5 year old daughter and wife. He loves motorcycles, fishing, hunting boating and watching movies. He is also into comic books.

TECHNICIAN

Zach is a laid back, chill guy and a father to one son. Outside of work you can find him at the dirt track races, traveling for his son’s soccer tournaments or antiquing with his girlfriend. Zach has been a technician at Matt’s Auto since 2013. A fun fact about Zach is that he likes to collect sports memorabilia. Go Falcons!

Hi! My name is Tyler! My hobbies are Fishing and Video games. I have two kids and are the absolute best! My favorite part of working at Matt’s Automotive is the co-workers I get to work with daily.

Mike has been with Matt’s Automotive for 2 years and really enjoys helping everyone out. He has been in the automotive collision industry for the past 8 years and loves learning more about how to perfect his craft. When he’s not at work he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Haley. He also enjoys animals and the outdoors, watching anime, and playing video games.

TECHNICIAN

I’m Cole, I’ve been working in the automotive field for roughly 4 years. I chose this career path because I always loved working with my hands, even at home I like to work on model kits or other hands-on activities. I started working on lawnmowers and other small engines when I was still in high school, leading me to where I am today. I graduated from Hennepin Technical College with a 2-year Diploma in Automotive and learned much through the years in this industry. Every day I learn new things and plan on continuously growing my skill set as an Automotive technician.

Hi, I’m Jager Johnson. I enjoy working on vehicles and doing a wide range of other outdoor activities. Such as fishing, hunting, and camping.

SHOP FOREMAN

My name is Joshua D. Smith and I’ve been a shop foreman at Matt’s Automotive Service Center for the past year. I’ve been working in this industry for twenty four years. My hobbies are any kind of motorsports racing. I enjoy being in the outdoors, hiking and exploring new places. I have two dogs that I love very much and three cats. I’ve been with my girlfriend Angie Tate for four years and I’m looking forward to many more years to ou come.

TECHNICIAN

My name is Andrew Toupal, and I have been in the automotive industry for almost six years. I have been working for Matt for a little over a year, and have loved every second of my career. My hobbies include woodworking, automotive performance, fishing, backpacking, and anything outdoors. I have one Husky and three cats, and I live with my wife of two years.

TECHNICIAN

Living with my girlfriend and love to help raise my grandkids who are the joy of my life. I like sports and bud light beer. I have worked in the same building for 16 years. I like to keep my hands busy with fixing just about anything. I walk every night with my grandson that the weather permits. Pull tabs at the VFW are always a good time especially when my girlfriend wins. Been working on cars for over 30 years.

TECHNICIAN

Dan is skilled in automotive repair, with over 15 years’ experience in both OEM and aftermarket vehicle repair. Throughout this time, he has discovered joy in coaching and mentoring aspiring technicians. Outside of work, Dan prioritizes family time, frequently enjoying camping, fishing, and engaging in motor sports, or maybe a BBQ. He also indulges his passion for cooking traditional French Cuisine for loved ones during his spare moments. Beyond his expertise in vehicle repair, Dan finds fulfillment in understanding the intricacies and never ending education of automotive technology. Moreover, he firmly believes in transparency and education, ensuring that every customer is empowered to make informed decisions about their vehicle.
