The Story Of Matt’s Automotive Service Center in South Fargo 

Formerly known as Mike’s Southside, this location underwent a significant transformation when it became part of the Matt’s Automotive family in December 2018. We recognized the potential of this space and embarked on an extensive remodel to create a state-of-the-art facility. After careful planning and meticulous attention to detail, this location proudly reopened its doors as our fourth Matt’s Automotive Service Center.

I was very impressed with the whole experience. They have a super nice waiting area with my choice of bottled water, soda, or coffee to choose from. Very clean. Friendly. I loved the digital receipt that had photos of the areas of concern on my car. I had an oil change and the price was much more reasonable than tires plus, where I have always gone. Plus they were more thorough. I had never heard of a cabin air filter. They had a picture of it and mine was extremely filthy. All the oil changes I have had over the years and nobody has ever checked my cabin air filter. I definitely will be returning for my automotive needs.

My girlfriend was down from Canada and while down her check engine light came on for camshaft position faults. They were quick to get it looked at. The actual inspection was pretty pricy and didn't really detail what it entailed. Had to go in and ask for clarification. But overall was a good shop. Found the issue and got it fixed quickly so she could head back home no problems. Front desk guy was great.

Matt's Automotive Service was a pleasure to work with! Had unexpected car issues and within the same day that it happened, they had a chance to look at my vehicle and run tests. They called to explain everything they were planning on doing and quoted prices. Not even two full business days later, I had my vehicle back and it everything was fixed. Staff members followed up the next day to make sure everything was still going okay with vehicle. Highly recommend Matt's Automotive Service!

I was Driving on 9th Ave south and 45th. I was in the lane to go across 45th and a car from Matt's came flying by me in the turn right lane but went straight across 45th. I won't bring my car to those that can't Drive PorperlyThis happen about 4:20 Tuesday January 09 2024

They charge most of their labor on a preset rate of selectable “jobs” rather than an hourly rate and how long it actually took them to perform tasks resulting labor charges higher than how much time they spent on the vehicle and labor charges that end up overlapping on related tasks.They also took 3 days to complete an oil change, rear brakes and rear axle seals, as well as some work on the door locks. All this should have been able to be done in a day, maybe 2 if needing to wait on parts, but instead took an excessive amount of time.Lastly, rather than talking directly to the tech servicing my vehicle who could answer my questions, I had to talk to a receptionist every time resulting in poor explanations and waiting for them to go ask the tech questions. They reached out after this and explained that the receptionist I had been dealing with is no longer there, and the other receptionist I dealt with seemed more knowledgeable.

I came here for an oil change, and they offered me a complimentary once-over of my car along with it, so I agreed; however, I was also surprised with a charge for windshield washer fluid. I specifically said that I only wanted the oil change and the once-over. I did not ask for them to fill my washer fluid, nor was I told about it before they charged me for it.

Friendly on phone, worked around my schedule , prompt when I walked in. Answered all my questions and made adjustments as I wanted. Service was completed quickly and everything works great!

I would highly recommend getting a second opinion if this is the first place you go. They told me it was going to be around 2200 to replace my subframe because it was extremely rotten. I brought it to another place that told me matts extremely overpriced and upcharges people. Was able to get the part ordered and fixed it for $1550 about $700 less.

Jenn has always upfront with me and nothing had been done without my approval. Sometimes I don't like what I'm told (who likes to spend $ on repairs) but I always get an explanation on why it should be done. Matt's is the only place I go for my mom's, daughter's & my vehicle maintenance and repair

They did a good job on what they did: but I brought it in to fix the squeaking noise my vehicle makes when I brake. Left with it still squeaking. They acknowledged that it I still squeaked too…. Wouldn’t recommend unless you absolutely know what you need and tell them explicitly that.

Came in with an electrical issue and Matts did an excellent job of being communicative and trying to find the parts I needed, they were very patient and took excellent care of my vehicle. Jenni was a big big help!

Amazing and thorough experience. Able to take care of VWs, which is hard to find in these parts. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, and the prices were amazing compared to what I've experienced in the past.

Picked up a nail while passing through town and they were able to get me in and repair the tire while I waited. Super friendly staff and nice, clean lounge and waiting room.

I was passing through town on a long road trip and had an electrical malfunction requiring immediate attention to allow safe driving. Two other locations I tried would not look at the car for several days. Matt's understood my dilemma and took my car right in. In very little time they had the problem resolved and I was back on the road. I really appreciated their concern for solving my problem to get me back on my way. Thank you to every one at Matt's Automotive. Great Job, Great Service by every one I encountered. Definitely a cut above in Fargo, Nd.

I brought in my vehicle that i have had the same issue with for 2 years. The dealership woul constantly reace a sensor here and there, but it would never fix the issue. And i had it into them at least 15 times and the literally had my vehicle for 6 weeks over the 2 years. In a matter of a few hours Matts Automotive found the main issue. And worked with my extended warranty to get it fixed. The car is now reliable again. Thank you Matt's Automotive.

My car's check engine light came on so I went to get it checked out. I was told that they would need to replace the evap hose, canister, sensor, valve, and everything. Almost $2000 worth of work. It didn't feel right to me, so I went someplace else and they said I only needed to replace the hose. They changed it out, tested the valve, and everything worked great. Less than $400 for diagnostics, parts, and labor. I will never come back to Matt's. How dare you try to make me pay so much for parts I don't need. You are crooked and you are the reason people don't trust mechanics.

In January 10,2023 AAA tow service was called by me (Betty Chevis) to have my car towed my car for repairs because of the clutch on my car malfunctioning (stuck in the down position). I received information from the Matt’s mechanic that not only was the clutch need to replaced but the transmission needed to be replaced. The service I received from Matt’s was outstanding. I was even given a vehicle to drive until my car was repaired. I am Very pleased and would recommend Matt’s to family, friends and new members.

Stopped in this afternoon to have a tire repaired and Demetrius couldn't of been more helpful. He truly had my best interest in mind which is hard to find these days. I will bring my work vehicle from Matt's going forward just because of the level of service. THANKS DEMETRIUS!

The folks at Matt’s were super friendly and were in the process of fixing the transmission in our car when they found additional problems with the car and notified me of the problem. After finding replacement parts to fix the car it was decided that the cost was more than the car, they put the car back together for me and I replaced it with another car. They even had a loaner car to use while they were fixing my car. Will definitely use they again.

Wow! where do I begin? Matt, Jenn and the entire crew were very accommodating and very straight forward. I usually dread going to any automotive repair center but my experience at Matt's changed my perspective totally.I had an out of state trip that would have been impossible if they did not go out of their way to get me in for the necessary repairs. They completed the repairs as they promised and the charges were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend Matt's Automotive Service Center.

I called about my check engine light. Jenni was super friendly and said they were pretty booked into the following week but thought they could squeeze me in. They did! She was very helpful and the mechanic(s) fixed the issue and I had my car back within a day! Very thorough and timely. Matt's with have my future business and anyone else I can recommend!!

Always know that I can depend and trust Matt's Automotive to take excellent care of my vehicle! Love the fact that they take photos of everything and show you 1st hand what needs to get repaired and what doesn't. They are upfront about everything, and I have never ever felt pushed into repairing something that I didn't want done at the time. They put you as the customer in the driver's seat when it comes to deciding on what and when you want to get things repaired! In my opinion, one of the best automotive repair shops around!
