Auto Body Technician

Position Summary

The Auto Body Technician performs automotive glass, body and related repairs, straightens bent bodies, removes dents, and replaces damaged parts that cannot be repaired.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Inspect body damage to determine feasibility and best method of repairs.
  • Perform damaged sheet metal and body repairs.
  • Remove, replace, or repair body parts using hand and power tools.
  • Remove, install, adjust, and align body components.
  • Repair locks, latches, and other accessory body parts.
  • Perform glass and upholstery repairs.
  • Document all repair and maintenance actions on repair orders, including parts and materials used, time expended, and pertinent comments.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all documentation and entries prior to release of vehicle.
  • Ensure vehicle security and safety while in shop.
  • Adhere to all governmental rules and shop safety practices relating to the operation of shop tools, use of personal safety devices, housekeeping, and health.
  • Follow all environmental practices regarding proper handling and disposal of all waste streams.
  • Communicates and adheres to Injury Prevention (IP) standards.

Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in the automotive industry required.
  • Auto Body and Collision Damage Repair Certificate preferred.
  • ASE credentials preferred.
  • Must be able to use all shop tools including torch and welding equipment.
  • Must have own hand and air tools to effectively complete task at hand.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, written estimates and work orders.
  • Strong analytical background.
  • All PPE rules must be followed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under company insurance policy.
  • Must be able to life up to 100 pounds.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills, good time management and adapts easily to a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be computer literate and have mechanical experience in alignment, driving, brakes, welding, detailing, data entry and diagnostics.

    Work Location: 1 location

    Schedule: 8 hour shift
    Monday – Friday
    8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

    Pay: $35,000 – $65,000 per year
