Welcome to Matt’s Automotive Maintenance & Repair Blog!

Welcome to our blog and website! My name is Kelly and I’m so glad you decided to tune in. As someone very new to the automotive industry, I’ll be the first to tell you I don’t know everything there is to know about cars and trucks. But I’m learning. Every day I’m learning. The guys I learn from are ASE Certified Technicians or Service Advisors who have years and years of experience. And when you’re the only woman in an automotive repair shop these lessons tend to have quite a bit of humor.

What I’ve come to realize, though, is that there are a lot of people who don’t know a lot about cars – we’re not alone! Today’s machines are complicated vehicles, a computer on wheels if you will. The good news is, it’s not our job to know all there is to know; that responsibility lies in the hands of our certified technicians or mechanics. Our job as consumers is to take care of our vehicles, but in order to do that we need to be able to communicate with the automotive industry. And in order to have a conversation, we need to know the language – or at least the basics.

Therein lays my purpose for this blog: to educate readers on the basics we need to talk about vehicle repairs and vehicle maintenance with our certified service advisors. There is a saying that humans are afraid of the unknown, and so it’s understandable that those who don’t know anything about vehicles are afraid of the automotive industry – that fear leads to skepticism.

Let’s be honest here; nobody likes to be duped, it’s a terrible feeling. But when you’re educated, it’s a lot less likely to happen. So do yourself a favor, tune into my blog from time to time and read up on some automotive lessons. You’ll be glad you did.
